When the Super Santas went to help set up beds and take some things away, they learned that everything he had in his apartment, he acquired from Kijiji. Whatever was free and within walking distance. They have never had anything new for their home.
Enter Canadian Tire on Macleod Trail (the location is important in this story because each Canadian Tire is independently owned). One of our Secret Santas is the General Manager at this location. In an effort to make our donation money stretch, he asked the store owner if he could purchase the items needed at cost. The owner, said “we can do one better. We can give it to them for free!” Incredible!
The complete list of housewares Canadian Tire donated is unbelievable and would fill this email. Some of the donated items included dishes, cups, utensils, pots and pans, blankets, coffee maker, tools, furniture – including a desk and chair, two armchairs. Everything is so impressive. I would have taken one of everything for my own home. Who knew Father Christmas owns a Canadian Tire!!
Delivery was incredible. It started at the loading bay at Canadian Tire where two trucks and one car were filled. It ended at the family’s apartment where the delivering families’ kids formed a bucket-gift brigade up their stairs. By the time we left, their small family room was packed to the brim.
