As soon as the girls got to the car one of them squealed “I think those people are the secret Santas!!” and ran back excitedly into the apartment to find a microwave and one month’s rent paid. They were ecstatic.
She showed off her backpacks, clothes, school supplies, make-up, bedding, bathroom supplies (“we have a lifetime supply of toothpaste”), furniture, and vacuum. The TV, from the night before, was already set up. The great thing is their mom has never wanted people to see her apartment before, but the daughters told us there was a new found sense of comfort and welcoming into their home.
Today was the last drop. Two families went tonight with two laptops, a coupon for three months rent and a book entitled “Christmas From Heaven”. When asked what she got, the one daughter responded “Rent paid for three months!!! and HP LAPTOP!!!!” “I was literally crying”.
